I'm happy with GSM technology and the simplicity with which I can change handsets by swapping out the SIM card. Among the Canadian wireless carriers, I can't differentiate the quality of coverage and the radio-service (i.e., the signal strength, etc.). All of which means I'll probably stay with Rogers all things being equal. But, the CRTC's move to introduce number portability gives us all a little more freedom to move between carriers. For me, with what can only be considered an excellent mobile phone number, it's great. In all though, based on the US experience, I'm not sure number portability will make a big difference to the amount of shifting done (already over 20% per year).
